i have sooooo much work to do today but i had to take a quick break to share the following email i just got from dogpile clothing. i *love* them for writing this, and i plan to print it and pass copies out to kids in my store.

yeah....alright then. lots going on these days. DP-77 ( http://www.dp-77.com ) just added loads of new stuff to the store....check it out. SUPPORT THE INDEPENDENT!!!!! yer not gonna ever find DOGPILE in that mall chain!!!!!!!!!!!!!NOT even at TOPIC!!!! stay out! punk never came from the mall and never will...punk isn't something safe. it doesnt come from a corporate business man! c'mon do yer home work. WAKE UP! SHUT YER MOUTH, TAKE A STAND AND FIGHT! support yer independent store!-the ones who helped build and who support the very scene that yer diggin!!!these are the guys you want to be backin'...i hear it from these store owners all the time saying that the kids come into thier store saying, "not-topic has it sooo much cheaper...." well, ya know what....yer right it is MUCH cheaper.....you get what you pay for!!! as the old saying goes.

DOGPILE-our theory here is quality and we back everything we do. Theres four (4) of us here! all down for one thing! going on fourteen years now with the same idea and support for the scene we love. we dont make and sell a trend here.....and you can't get one here either....if thats what yer in it for then maybe thats why the independents are dyin'......and the corporate business man is bigger than ever....killing everything thats half-way good.

Sure, there was a time when we sold to them thinking that was a way to go as a business decision.....WRONG! i think that sometimes the "business-decision-part-of-it" needs to take a back seat and yer soul and integrity need to take the wheel. I'll take the hit on that one....another "live and learn" mistake....shit, after all the ones I've made I should be fukin Einstien by now! I was talking to Iggy at TWO TONE in Passaic, New Jersey...if you dont know who he is....i'd say hes probably got one of the best shops in the country and a great guy....old skool punk through and through from way back. anyway, we were talking about how there is no real unity among the punx here in the U.S......if you think about it...everyone is in competition with each other and with something like this - it does'nt work.....punk was something built on uniting together to stand up against what was fukin' wrong....taking a stand and making a change TOGETHER! well, whatever happened to that.....? if YOU dont-then, what we call our PUNK SCENE will be gone! taken over and run by corporate america!

what is so fukin good about that???? NOTHING! thats what yer "cheap-mall-prices" are supporting! kiss it good bye....or take that stand NOW! and make that difference. make a change. smarten up! listen to what some of these bands have to say. read up. look around. open yer eyes. see whats going on around you...and still make yer own decisions! thats what its about.
